Web Business Tips

On this page I will be posting tips on internet marketing, advertising, domain name and intellectual property protection, search engine optimization (and what commonly used tricks out there will get you banned from search engines), internet affiliate marketing, increasing conversion rates, web usability and design, and much more,so check back often .

Tip # 1 : Before you build a website

When deciding to build a web site you should 1st have in mind what your target audience will be ( what gender , age , occupation ,location ect.) I know you may be thinking you want everyone to go to your website ,but for most  sites ,not everyone does .For instance you wouldn't want to a child going to an adult site . If your website will be more targeted to women, make it more feminine or if predominately male ,make it more masculine .If you feel the age group will be more elderly make sure you have larger text with easier to read colors. Knowing your targeted audience can also help you pick out affiliate links ( I'll talk more about affiliates at a later date) that will give you higher revenue .

Tip # 2 : Picking a domain name When picking a domain name I try to register my business name, if that is taken ,I try to register a keyword or key phrase (more on that later) .For example I own InteriorHomeDecorations.com & HomeDecorativeGifts.com that I bought to create sites to sell home decorative gifts.( I haven't had time to build the sites yet , so if someone wants to make an offer I'd be willing to sell them !) Search engines like Google put you up higher in relevance in their listings if the keyword or phrase is actually in the domain name.
